Terms of Use

Last updated 4 August 2026

The short version

Mermlaid is free software provided as is, under the MIT licence. Use it for anything you like, including commercial work. There is no warranty and no guaranteed support.

Licence

The source code is licensed under the MIT licence, which permits use, copying, modification and redistribution provided the copyright notice and licence text are kept. The full text lives in the repository.

Copies obtained through the Mac App Store are additionally governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where that agreement conflicts with these terms for App Store copies, Apple's terms apply.

Your content

Diagrams you write remain entirely yours. Mermlaid claims no rights over them, and never sees them — everything is rendered locally on your Mac.

No warranty

Mermlaid is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk. Keep your own copies of work that matters; the developer is not liable for lost or corrupted diagrams, or for any other damages arising from use of the app.

Availability

There is no service to keep running — the app works offline and does not depend on any server. Updates are published at the developer's discretion, and the app may be withdrawn from the App Store at any time. Copies you already have keep working, and the source stays available under its licence.

Third-party components

Mermlaid bundles open source libraries including Mermaid, CodeMirror and Tauri, each under its own licence. Those licences are listed in the repository.
